Dance Regulations

1. It is the responsibility of the Teacher/Parent in charge to see Groups/Troupes are side stage and ready for performance.

2. Each Dance Group/Troupe will be allocated an assembly area backstage and there will be Dance Marshals to direct you.

3. NO Principal/Teacher nor Parent of ANY Dance Studio/Academy, is to PERFORM in these Dance Sections. Student teachers are exempt.

4. Competitors must NOT repeat a dance performed in any section in any other section, EXCEPT in RESTRICTED Sections and J.J. RICHARDS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP.

5. J.J.RICHARDS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP: An award of $1000 and a Perpetual Trophy donated by Idwall Richards and family, in memory J.J.Richards, a prominent Tweed Citizen. See DOP SCH1.

6. Time limits must strictly adhered to.      Solos:    3 Minutes                                      Duo & trios:      4 Minutes

7. CD/TAPE PLAYERS: A suitable CD/tape player and an operator WILL be provided, however, competitors MAY provide and operate their OWN, from the AREA designated for this purpose. If you burn a computer CD/tape, please have a BACK UP CD/tape available. The COMMITTEE’S OPERATOR will NOT be held responsible for poor quality recordings.

8. CHAMPIONSHIPS: Competitors MUST dance in the equivalent SOLO sections to be eligible for Championships.

9. IMPROVISATION: Improvisation music is provided by the Adjudicator.

Competitors allowed 30 seconds break to improvise after hearing the music through once. Plain coloured leotards and tights to be worn as per examination conditions, DEFINITELY NOT TRIM. All dancers to appear on stage prior to commencement of section.

10. RESTRICTED DANCE: These sections are for competitors who have NOT won a 1st prize in the appropriate Dance Section of ANY festival or eisteddfod up to the time of Entry closure. Competitors MAY repeat the same dance in the corresponding unrestricted section.

11. DUOS/TRIOS: a) NO competitor may appear MORE than twice in the same DUO/TRIO section.

              b) NO DUO/TRIO consisting of IDENTICAL DANCERS may appear more than ONCE in the same DUO/TRIO section.

              c) NO TEACHER or PARENT is permitted to perform with the DUOs/TRIOs.

12. FLASHLIGHT cameras are NOT to be used during ANY performances of the festival. VIDEO cameras are NOT to be used during the Dance Sections.

13. TROPHIES must be returned to Convenor, Annette Simpson, by 9am, Sat 3rd July 2010. (16 Myrtle St Murwillumbah – 02 6672 2745 or at the Auditorium.)
