ADJUDICATOR
Margaret GALLAGHER has been involved in Arts and Communication Education for over
twenty-five years.
She holds a Licentiate Diploma in Speech and Drama
from Trinity Guildhall, London, winning a “Top of the State” award for results
in this subject. Margaret also holds and Associate Teaching Diploma from the
Australian College of Music in Speech and Drama. In addition, she has studied
Linguistics and Related Subjects at the Universiy of Queensland.
Margaret also has a keen interest in directing
theatrical productions, developing self confidence and oral language skills in
children, through performance.
Margaret has adjudicated at
a large number of centres throughout the country. In 2009, she adjudicated at
the Rockhampton Speech and Drama Festival. She has had the privilege and
opportunity to adjudicate in Hong Kong on a number of occasions,
most recently in 2009.
Margaret looks forward, very much, to adjudicating
the 2010 Murwillumbah Festival of Performing Arts, Speech and Drama Sections.

ASHTON

Formerly
Head of the Music Department of the Kelvin Grove Campus of QUT, John Ashton has
had a wide experience as an adjudicator in Brisbane and provincial Queensland.
His interests have ranged from choral singing and conducting to accompanying
and arranging for small ensemble groups. For many years, John was Deputy
Organist at a central Brisbane church. He was Chairman of the Queensland
Chapter of the Australian Society for Music Education for ten years.
MUSIC ADJUDICATOR: DAVID HIBBARD
(Saturday 26th June – Afternoon and Evening)
Australian
bass, David Hibbard, graduated from the Queensland Conservatorium of Music in
1981. He studied in New Yourk with Daniel Ferro and in England with Sir Peter
Pears, prior to performing with the English National Opera and Glyndebourne
Festival Opera.
After winning the German Operatic Award from Opera Foundation Australia, David sang with Cologne Stadtsoper and Bremen Stadstheater. He then returned to Australia, performing with all the State Companies and Opera Australia.

MARILYN MORRISON

Marilyn Morrison started dancing at age five and was the Principal of her
own dance school for twenty-nine years. She has choreographed shows for NSW
clubs and shopping centre shows. She was also a singer / dancer on several
overseas Cruise Ships.
Marilyn
is proficient in all forms of dance and was also a competitive Ice and Roller
Skater at state and national level. At one stage was a NSW Title holder.She has
taught and prepared classes in Classical Ballet and Theatrical Scholarships for
major eisteddfodau. She is also on the judging panel for M.A.T.S. (MO Awards in
NSW Division).
Marilyn
is the founder and convener of the Swansea Dance Festival which has continued
running for the past nineteen years. She has adjudicated all major eisteddfodau
in Australia, in every state. Her most recent adjudications have been for the
Mazda Foundation National Dance Championships, New Zealand in 2008; South
Australian Dance Competitions in 2009 and the Sunshine Coast Eisteddfod in
2010.
Marilyn
is looking forward to returning Murwillumbah after a number of years.

HORSEY

Chris Horsey is the winner of the Fred Astaire International Tap & Jazz Championship Waldorf
Astoria, New York City. Since then he has performed in the Frank Sinatra Concert (Sanctuary Cove) and Quincy Jones – ‘The First Fifty Years’ alongside Stevie Wonder
(Pasadena, Los Angeles). Some other productions have been 42nd Street (Helen Montague Productions, original cast),
Hot Shoe Shuffle (Queens Theatre,
West End London and Japan), Chicago
(IMG), Singing In The Rain (DAE/IMG),
West Side Story (VSO playing Big
Deal) and Crazy For You (TPC playing
Lank Hawkins). Chris co-founded Tap Dogs
(Union Square Theatre New York, for which he won a Village Voice ‘OBIE Award’
and North America). On film, Chris starred as Angus in Bootmen (Fox Searchlight Pictures).
Chris choreographed Changi
(ABC TV), Mosh (starring Paul
McDermott), Jive Junky’s (Edinburgh
Fringe Festival), High Society (The
Production Company), Karaoke – The
Musical (starring John-Paul Young), various film clips and TVCs. Later this
year, Chris will choreograph Sugar
(for TPC in Melbourne). Earlier this year, Chris was flown to London to perform
with Adam Garcia on Got To Dance (Sky
1 UK) and in April, he won the People’s Choice Award for his act 3 Hits & A Miss at the Short Sweet
and Dance Festival, Sydney. Chris Horsey is on the Artistic Advisory Committee for this year’s inaugural The Sydney Fringe Festival and can be heard
every week from 9.30am to 11.30am when he presents Arts Friday for Eastside
Radio 89.7FM.
