MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT
2012 will begin a new era with
the Murwillumbah Festival of Performing Arts, but we do wish to continue the
good traditions of the past. Thank you very much to the outgoing President,
Arthur Holmes, who has done outstanding work as President/Secretary for the
last fifteen years. Due to health problems, Arthur has had to step down and I
wish him all the best for the future. Congratulations to Arthur Holmes and
Annette Simpson on becoming Life Members of the association. The Festival
Committee is a hard working group of volunteers who try very hard to make your performing
experience, a pleasurable, exciting and rewarding one.
There have been a few changes
within the disciplines (Speech and Drama, Music, Dance) and hope that they are
warmly welcomed by 2012 competitors. The purpose of the Festival is to provide
an opportunity for all young performing artists to perform and hope that there
is at least one category suitable to each student. Should you wish to see
additions or changes to the Festival Schedule, please feel free to approach a
Committee member with your request.
Looking forward to seeing many of
you perform during the Festival in June and July 2012, and check out those
changes.
Heather Martin OAM
